Artist Statement

The Photograph depiets a scene from the novel From Amigos To Friends by Pelayo garcia. The novel is based on the events that took place during the Cuban Revolution. In particular it shows how the Cuban families were dramatically affected by the change in government. The scene is taking place in Alicia's bedroom. Her father caught her with revolutionary literature and campaign flyers. In fear of his families wellbeing to scream at his daughter in a fit of rage. Alicia's youngest brother Carlos is obeying his father's commands by setting her contraband on fire. Her mother stands in the bedrooms doorway consumed by her emotions. This scene depicts what many families were going through this particular revolution.
